About the role
The Senior Administrative Assistant provides high‑level administrative and support services for the Regional Office in the Pacific, reporting to the Director and Finance and Administrative Officer. The role ensures compliance with policies, manages financial and HR processes, and oversees logistics functions.
Key responsibilities
- Act as certifying officer, interpret administrative rules, and advise on operational transactions.
- Manage financial resources: schedule payments, process accounts, prepare budgets, monitor expenditures and investigate anomalies.
- Prepare and communicate budget reports, proposals and cost estimates, and correct irregularities.
- Handle complex HR cases, issue contracts, maintain personnel database and liaise with UNESCO headquarters.
- Oversee procurement, inventory control, and security compliance for staff travel and training.
Required profile
- Completed secondary, technical or vocational education.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in administration, finance, accounting or audit.
- Strong analytical ability, discretion with confidential matters and capacity to work in a multicultural environment.
Required skills
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to prepare financial statements, budgets and reports.
