Senior Communications Coordinator

About the role

Conservation International in Samoa is looking for a Senior Communications Coordinator to lead the communication strategy for the national Samoa Ocean Strategy (SOS) and the newly adopted Marine Spatial Plan. The role will shape messaging, raise public awareness, and support the implementation of ocean stewardship initiatives across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy for the SOS and Marine Spatial Plan.
• Produce press releases, social media content, website updates, factsheets and event materials.
• Coordinate and align communications across the CI Samoa programme to ensure consistent messaging.
• Manage the Samoa Ocean’s Champion campaign and monitor its impact.
• Support regional and international CI communications as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience in communications, public relations or media within the environmental or non‑profit sector.
• Strong writing and storytelling abilities, with a focus on environmental topics.
• Ability to work collaboratively with government, community and private‑sector partners.
• Commitment to diversity, cultural competency and inclusion.

Required skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience creating content for press releases, social media, websites and events.
• Project coordination and campaign management experience.
