About the role
The Senior Container Cleaning Officer will lead the container cleaning team at our Apia office, ensuring containers meet NZ/AUS MPI standards and are processed safely and efficiently. This position reports to the Shared Services Manager and plays a key part in maintaining high health, safety and operational standards.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise cleaning of empty and full containers to meet regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate receipt, tally, and delivery of containers for cleaning or export.
- Enforce safety procedures for chemical spraying, work at height, and PPE usage.
- Oversee operation of waterblasters, heavy machinery, and related equipment.
- Investigate non‑compliance incidents and document damaged containers with photos.
- Assist with monthly stocktake of cleaning chemicals and ensure adequate supplies.
- Conduct weekly/monthly baiting at the port and perform internal audits at least once a month.
- Lead toolbox meetings, provide health & safety training, and handle any additional duties as required.
Required profile
- Minimum three years of secondary education.
- Strong integrity, reliability and the ability to work autonomously.
- Commitment to health, safety and wellbeing.
- Right to live and work in Samoa.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
