Head of Finance

About the role

British American Tobacco Samoa is seeking a commercially‑savvy, strategic finance leader to head the Finance function in Apia. Reporting to the General Manager, the Head of Finance will drive financial performance, governance and strategic delivery across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver operating targets, including profit and cash‑flow objectives.
• Lead integrated financial performance management processes that challenge and support the business.
• Own selected strategic projects locally and across the regional cluster.
• Drive automation and simplification within Finance to improve back‑office efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with local laws, excise requirements and corporate SOPs.
• Develop and implement an excise lobbying strategy supporting BAT’s business model in Samoa.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve commercial outcomes.
• Set leadership priorities, coach the Finance team and foster a high‑performance culture.

Required profile

• A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Professional accountancy qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA, CR or CPA).
• 5‑10 years of experience in a global FMCG or similarly dynamic environment, with at least 5 years in a senior finance leadership role.
• Strong commercial and strategic thinking capability.
• Good knowledge of corporate financial practices and BAT governance requirements.
• Understanding of the tobacco business, including operations, marketing and sales.
• Excellent English communication skills.
