Infield Mentor (Samoa)

About the role

The Infield Mentor supports missionaries in Samoa by delivering training that helps them share the restored gospel. Working under the Training department, the mentor provides coaching, lesson planning, and feedback across various instructional settings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide instruction through one‑on‑one coaching, small‑group facilitation, large workshops, and Canvas discussion monitoring.
• Plan and prepare lessons in coordination with a companion teacher, following the approved curriculum.
• Guide missionaries in planning and accounting for their learning objectives.
• Implement direction from Teacher Trainer, Supervisor, Manager of Training, and Senior Manager of Training.
• Attend weekly training meetings and co‑teacher sessions.
• Assist area leadership in coordinating with mission and Missionary Department leadership.
• Report on task progress and missionary needs to leadership.
• Coach missionaries during practice and live lessons.
• Assess language proficiency of missionaries and teacher applicants when required.
• Role‑play as a non‑member interested in learning about the Church and support temporary duties at the Missionary Training Center.

Required profile

• Must be a returned missionary.
• Fluency in English and the specified second language (for language‑teaching positions).
• Outstanding coaching, facilitation, and training abilities.
• Strong knowledge of the Preach My Gospel curriculum.
• Excellent interpersonal, prioritizing, professionalism, and leadership skills.
• Self‑motivated, receptive to feedback, and able to work well with others.
• Understanding of effective language‑learning strategies (for language‑teaching positions).
