School Counselor – Church College Pesega

About the role

The School Counselor will support youth in deepening their faith in Jesus Christ, while providing professional counseling to help them navigate personal, behavioral, and social challenges. The role also guides students toward successful career pathways and self‑reliant lives.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the principal, church leadership, faculty, and community partners to advance students' spiritual, academic, and career goals.
• Listen to student concerns, deliver appropriate counseling, and develop action plans to meet physical, behavioral, and social needs.
• Ensure compliance with mandatory reporting requirements and promote comprehensive English instruction.
• Participate in school leadership teams, vision committees, and professional development activities.
• Assess and communicate student needs, contribute to school planning, and align efforts with SAI objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a teaching or counseling certification.
• Minimum six years of relevant counseling or educational experience.
• Advanced communication, active listening, negotiation, and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Commitment to continuous learning, supporting students with disabilities, and adherence to Church Board of Education and SAI policies.
• Physical ability to meet job requirements and a valid police report.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Fluent written and spoken Samoan.
