National Project Coordinator (Agrifood Systems)

About the role

The National Project Coordinator (NPC) will be the principal in‑country focal point for the Sustainable Transformation of Domestic Agrifood Systems (STODAS) project in Samoa. Reporting to the Programme Officer in Apia, the NPC will lead the implementation of all three project outputs, ensuring alignment with the Year 3 workplan, the Logical Framework Matrix and FAO/EU policies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and operational leadership for Outputs 1, 2 and 3 across the project life‑cycle.
• Coordinate daily activities with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, private sector partners and civil‑society stakeholders.
• Oversee procurement, Letters of Agreement and financial compliance in line with FAO standards.
• Monitor progress, prepare reports and ensure timely delivery of milestones.
• Facilitate capacity‑building workshops and knowledge‑exchange events.
• Represent FAO in national stakeholder meetings and policy dialogues.

Required profile

• Strong background in agrifood systems, policy development and rural development.
• Proven experience in project management and partnership coordination.
• Familiarity with FAO and EU procurement and reporting procedures.
• Excellent communication skills in English and ability to work effectively with Samoan institutions.
