In-Field Mentor – Missionary Training (Samoa)

About the role

The In-Field Mentor supports missionaries in Samoa by providing coaching, instruction, and feedback that help them live the restored gospel. Working alongside a companion teacher, the mentor delivers lessons, facilitates group sessions, and monitors online learning platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑on‑one coaching, small‑group facilitation, and large‑group workshops following the approved curriculum.
• Prepare and coordinate lesson plans with a companion teacher to meet individual missionary needs.
• Monitor Canvas participation, discussion boards, and assess language proficiency when required.
• Report progress and needs to the Training department leadership.
• Assist area leadership in coordinating with mission and Missionary Department leadership.
• Participate in weekly training meetings and co‑teacher sessions.
• Occasionally role‑play as a non‑member or serve as a Training Area Assistant.

Required profile

• Returned missionary who has served within the past three years.
• Fluency in the specified second language (for language‑teaching positions).
• Strong coaching, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
• Self‑motivated, professional, and able to receive and implement feedback.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Preach My Gospel doctrine and teaching methods.
• Understanding of effective language‑learning strategies (for language‑teaching positions).
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English and the second language.
