Civil Engineer / Structural Engineer

About the role

The role involves overseeing the technical design aspects and supporting construction supervision to ensure the structural integrity of a dam. The engineer will work closely with contractors, the MWTI, and AMDP teams to maintain safety and operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Review civil structure drawings and design documents for quality and conformity, advising contractors on necessary adjustments.
• Assist the MWTI in preparing operation and maintenance strategy documents from a civil engineering perspective.
• Establish and maintain a quality assurance system for civil works.
• Supervise civil works related to the operation of the AMDP MWTI and ensure adherence to the project schedule.
• Record events leading to delays and ensure safety and structural integrity of the dam during operation.
• Execute skill‑transfer programs for AMDP MWTI personnel and assist in maintenance of civil structures.
• Establish a document management system for operation and maintenance reports and support external and personnel relations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of experience reviewing detailed dam designs.
• Registration as a Chartered or Professional Engineer with an internationally recognised institution and as a chartered member of the local IPES in Samoa.
