Foundation Quality Control / Engineering Geologist

About the role

The Engineering Geologist will support SMEC International’s dam projects by ensuring foundation excavation, preparation and grouting meet international dam engineering standards. The role involves close collaboration with design engineers, contractors and MWTI personnel during construction.

Key responsibilities

• Assist engineers in reviewing detailed engineering studies and design documents from a geological perspective.
• Interpret geological data from investigations and other sources.
• Audit contractor quality‑control processes for dam foundation implementation.
• Ensure foundation excavation, preparation and grouting follow international dam engineering practice.
• Feed new geological information back into design and recommend modifications.
• Execute skill‑transfer programs for MWTI personnel during construction.

Required profile

• Experience reviewing civil‑structure drawings and designs from a geological viewpoint.
• Ability to assess and audit quality‑control mechanisms on dam foundations.
• Strong communication skills for external and personnel relations.
