Project Engineer – Airport Security Fence Installation

About the role

We are looking for a Project Engineer to lead the installation of a new security boundary fence at Faleolo International Airport, Samoa. The role involves on‑site technical supervision to ensure the fence, gates, posts and foundations are built safely, to specification and without disrupting airport operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee construction and installation of the airport boundary fence, gates, posts, foundations and related works.
• Verify that materials and installation methods meet approved specifications and manufacturer requirements.
• Supervise contractors, monitor daily activities, quality, safety and progress.
• Coordinate with the Samoa Airport Authority, project management team, suppliers and local contractors.
• Review construction drawings, technical submissions, inspection records and contractor documentation.
• Identify defects, delays or non‑conforming work and recommend corrective actions.
• Monitor the construction programme and produce regular written progress reports.
• Assist with inspections, testing, practical completion and final handover.
• Ensure all work complies with airport operations, aviation safety and security requirements.

Required profile

• Recognised engineering qualification in civil, structural, construction or a related discipline.
• Proven experience overseeing airport security or aviation boundary‑fencing projects.
• Experience with high‑security fencing, gates, concrete foundations and associated civil works.
• Strong knowledge of construction quality assurance, workplace safety and contractor supervision.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and construction programmes.
• Excellent communication, reporting and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Willingness to work independently in Samoa for the full 2–3‑month contract.
• Experience on Pacific Island infrastructure projects or active airport environments is a plus.
